Join Us As We Make History

Ongoing coverage of our inaugural Board of Trustees Conference, Feb. 19-20, in Pasadena, Calif.

TCS Education System Board of Trustees hosted an inaugural conference Feb. 19-20 that invited trustees, presidents and leaders from our five nonprofit colleges and universities to come together and share ideas. The vision was to look at where we have been as a system, and ahead to where we will take our students and institutions in 2020.

Dr. R. Edward Bergmark, chairman of TCS Education System’s (TCS Ed) Board of Trustees, greeted guests at our conference’s opening reception and dinner in Pasadena, Calif. last night with high praise for where we have been—and where we are headed in the future.

“This is indeed a historic occasion to bring all the boards together,” Dr. Bergmark said. “When we began TCS Education System in 2009, I for one did not imagine it would be this grand at this point. And we’re working now on our vision for 2020, which is both inspirational and aspirational.”

Dr. Bergmark’s comments followed a warm welcome by Dr. Ezat Parnia, president of Pacific Oaks College & Children’s School, where the inaugural conference was being held. Founding TCS Ed president, Dr. Michael Horowitz, followed this welcome with his opening address—a speech titled “Going the Extra Mile.”

Leaders came from within our organization and from our five affiliated colleges and universities: The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Pacific Oaks College & Children’s School, Saybrook University, Dallas Nursing Institute and The Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law.

In addition to the opening festivities, participants were also invited to attend a Vision 2020 workshop aimed at helping them envision the system’s future, to hear stories from recent TCS Ed alumni, and learn more about our Global Engagement initiatives.

Inspirational, indeed.
